► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a rare vintage Seiko Sign Table D409-5020 men’s digital sports watch, produced exclusively for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) in the 1980s. This highly collectible Seiko digital model represents the brand’s innovative peak during the golden era of digital watchmaking, featuring the distinctive Sign Table system that allows alphanumeric characters to be entered and displayed directly on the watch—an advanced and forward-thinking function for its time. This example is new old stock and has been preserved in storage for decades. The watch is in mint physical condition, showing only minor signs of handling consistent with long-term storage. It presents exceptionally well and retains a clean, sharp appearance throughout. The watch is in full working condition, with all features and functions operating properly. The watch features Seiko’s classic rectangular stainless steel case paired with a two-tier LCD display. The upper display shows time, day, and date, while the lower display houses the alphanumeric Sign Table layout used for character entry and display. The design is unmistakably 1980s—functional, futuristic, and distinctly Seiko. It comes fitted with its original Seiko stainless steel bracelet and is accompanied by a genuine Seiko box and original hang tag. Please note that the hinge on the Seiko box is slightly broken, though the box remains presentable and complete. ► ARCHIVE FILE: SEIKO — BRAND HISTORY

Seiko begins with Kintaro Hattori, who opened a shop selling and repairing clocks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1881, at the age of twenty-one. He founded the Seikosha factory in 1892 to manufacture wall clocks, built Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913, and put the Seiko name on a dial for the first time in 1924. By mid-century his successors ran one of the most vertically integrated watch companies on earth, making everything from hairsprings to cases under its own roof.
